Sanya imposed strict lockdown measures to curb new COVID-19 variant

Sanya, a city on the southern end of the Hainan Island in China is a tourism hotspot. From Thursday, the city imposed lockdown measures in majority regions, requesting the residents to decrease their number of trips outside related to shopping or other daily necessities to once every two days and keeping them confined inside their homes, strictly.


The city government explained on late on Wednesday that all non-essential venues would remain suspended. These measures were adopted in effort to restrain a fresh new variant of COVID-19. The government stated in a statement that city’s few narrower areas are allowed to keep their COVID-19 policy at normal level.
