The NSW Sapphire Coast will be the stunning backdrop for Australia’s newest marquee multi-day music and arts event near idyllic Merimbula from 23-25 September 2022.

The NSW Government, through its tourism and major events agency Destination NSW, has partnered with the creator of iconic Australian cultural events such Falls Festival and The Lost Lands, to bring the inaugural Wanderer Festival to NSW, featuring The Dandy Warhols, DMAs, Confidence Man, The Teskey Brothers, Sarah Blasko, Jack River and many more.

Minister for Enterprise, Investment and Trade, Minister for Tourism and Sport, and Minister for Western Sydney Stuart Ayres said this was a significant boost for the region.

“I am delighted the nation’s newest major cultural festival will be taking place in the beautiful NSW Sapphire Coast, one of the state’s most pristine regions,” Mr Ayres said.

“Wanderer Festival is going to attract thousands of visitors to one of Australia’s most inspiring destinations, providing a fantastic boost to the visitor economy of a region that has been badly impacted by successive years of natural disasters and COVID-19.

“NSW is bouncing back to life and this is as much about putting smiles back on faces as it is about turbocharging our state’s visitor economy. Nothing does that more than a brand-new festival celebrating music and art with a strong line up of local and international talent.

“Delivering world-class events to our regions is integral to the NSW Government’s Visitor Economy Strategy 2030, to make NSW the premier visitor economy of the Asia Pacific.”

Wanderer Festival producer Simon Daly, creator of some of Australia’s most unique music and cultural experiences, said this event would also celebrate the location’s uniqueness.

“I’ve always been drawn to remote and enigmatic locations – places that are welcoming and inspiring. Places unlike any other. Wanderer Festival is about nurturing and celebrating that uniqueness of people and place,” Mr Daly said.

Wanderer Festival is being delivered under the NSW Government’s State Significant Event Fund, which was developed to secure and build a compelling calendar of major world-class events exclusively for NSW to drive the state’s visitor economy.
