Saudi Arabia and Spain aiming to play a major role forreinforcing global tourism

Supported by strong mutual trade totaling $3.5 billion in a year, Saudi Arabia and Spain are striving to play a major role forreinforcing global tourism, with both countries continuing to share robust business relations.


Saudi Arabia is gearing up to host the 116th Executive Council of the UNWTO this month from 7-8 in Jeddah. With around 180 partakers worldwide, the Kingdom can get an advantage from Spain’s proficiency and familiarity with the tourism segment.


Ahmed Al-Khateeb, the Saudi Tourism Minister said that there is abundant opportunity lying in front and that they can achieve it joining hands together. He said this during the Saudi-Spanish Investment Forum in Riyadh, which was held on Sunday.


The two countries statedan affiliation last December within the UNWTOfor reviving and reinforcing the tourism sector after the subsiding of the pandemic. Al-Khateebsaid that they are displaying to the world that teamwork and partnership can safeguard jobs and livings across the world.


Al-Khateebadded that Saudi Arabia has now emerged as one of the most convincing places to investin the world.The minister opined that the Saudi-Spanish infrastructure reserve with a sum of $1 billion will fund infrastructure projects in Saudi Arabia, along with another fund with a valueof $5 billion for private sector investments.


Al-Khateebmentioned the mega projects which are presently under development, which includesAlUla, NEOM, The Red Sea, Qiddiyaand Diriyah Gate.
