Recently, Saudi Arabia has banned all international flights to India along with 15 other nations after re-emergence of the pandemic. Saudi Arabia has barred its citizens from traveling to these 16 countries in the wake of increasing numbers of daily Covid-19 cases in the last few weeks. India reported more than 2000 new cases of the virus on Sunday.

Besides India, the other countries are Turkey, Vietnam, Syria, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Afghanistan, Yemen, Lebanon, Ethiopia, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Indonesia, Armenia, Belarus and Venezuela.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has stated that the COVID-19 pandemic is “most certainly not over yet.”Although there is a reduction inCovid-19 cases since the Omicron wave, the pandemic is not over completely.
WHO Director-generalTedrosAdhanomGhebreyesus said that it is wise not to let go of safety at any cost. He added that doing away with testing and sequencing means that we are keeping ourselves blind to theprogress of the virus.

Ghebreyesussaid that almost 1 billion people in lower-income countries are left to be vaccinated.

Monkeypox is another important issue; however, the Ministry of Health in Saudi Arabia has guaranteed that there is no such case in the country so far. Abdullah Asiri, the Saudi Deputy Minister of Health for preventive health said that till now, cases of spreading between humans are extremely limited. Thus, the likelihood of any outbreaks happening from it, even in countries where there are perceived cases, are negligible.
