Saudi Arabia has shrouded in a mystery for long to innumerable would-be tourists across the globe. When I had last visited almost a decade earlier, there were no tourist visas and above all no business-oriented infrastructure for foreigners.
With the onset of 2019, everything started changing. Electronic tourist visas were introduced and one of the most sought-after destinations to visit is the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. In a world where social media makes us feel so familiar with the distant places of The Maldives and Bali, tourists are more and more longing for new and cultural experiences
Saudi Arabia opened its doors out of nowhere, and it hasn’t gradually crept them open, the Kingdom has flung the doors open to the tourists’ world over.
In compared to my recent trip when I last visited, very little had changed regarding attitude and perception. People are very friendly, Saudi Arabia feels very safe. Before tourist visas were introduced with ease. Very few travelers were aware about what the country had to offer.
This is a nation rich in culture and tradition and currently a clear message has been sent that Saudi Arabia is not only keen on business but tourism as well. Majority of tourists will come via Riyadh and Jeddah, which serve as great bases to explore some of the stunning beauty here from the “Edge of the World” to Al-Soudah and Madain Saleh.
