Secretary, Tourism & Culture, Sarmad Hafeez J&K held a detailed meeting with tourism stakeholders from Kashmir concerning present condition of tourism in the region.
The meeting was attended by Director Tourism Kashmir, Dr. G N Itoo; Director SKICC, Bakshi Javed Humayun; Deputy Director, Tourism (Registration), Ahsan-ul-Haq Chisthi, representatives of travel and tour operators, white water rafting, mountaineering, hiking and trekking along with cycling and other concerned.
The representatives presented various issues and suggestions for tourism promotion in the Kashmir valley.
The Secretary urged the stakeholders to make use of the social media platforms as marketing and promotional tools and bring in social media influencers and bloggers for boosting tourist destinations globally.
Sarmad Hafeez said that J&K holds great prospective in terms of tourism and recreational activities where local stakeholders from the tourism sector would offer and publicize tourist destinations to people outside so that J&K becomes number one tourist destination in the country.
The Secretary asked the stakeholders to organize events like cycling; mountain biking, hiking, mountaineering, recreational water sports and related activities so that national and international players can be invited for such events for upholding J&K tourism. Events like marathon cycling have international value where the best people from across India could be invited to take part.
