Self-administered Covid test allowed in Royal Caribbean and many others

Three major cruise lines have announced they will accept self-administered COVID-19 tests in cases where it is necessary. Carnival Cruise Line has stated that they will accept self-administered tests along with lab-administered ones.

This will begin on Sept 6. From now on unvaccinated tourists can get themselves tested to board the ships. The trip has to be for 15 nights or shorter. Some destinations will however require self-tests to be medically supervised. There is a variety of locations including Bermuda and Canada.

Royal Caribbean International and Celebrity Cruise have announced that they are accepting the tests along the same line.
Royal Caribbean will allow guests on U.S. cruises to take a professionally administered test as of Sept. 5. The data is published on their website. This is going to be the same as any other changes. The changes are however subject to local restrictions.

However, major cruise lines have actually dropped vaccine requirements. Carnival, Royal Caribbean, and Celebrity announced this month that they would welcome all passengers regardless of vaccination status. Other major cruise line announcements along the line. These include Holland America Line and Princess Cruises.

The cruise line policy will allow unvaccinated tourists to board. This policy is thought to have uplifted the possibility of engaging many more tourists. However, there are some situations where Carnival Cruise Line will require a pre-cruise test for vaccinated passengers from 16 nights for longer trips. Unvaccinated tourists will be required to produce a negative RTPCR test.

Celebrity Cruise will require vaccinated tourists of age 5 and above to provide a test result which is negative. Unvaccinated tourists must take a test within 3 days of onboarding.
