Series of G20 meetings planned to be held in India

G. Kishan Reddy, the Union Tourism and Culture Minister said that a sequence of G20 meetings planned to be held in India in the course of this year, are predictable to drive air passenger traffic.


India is the G20 President for this year. Hence, a lot of meetings connected to a variety of sectors are in the pipeline to be held in various regions of India.


Minister Reddy said at a press conference that the Indian government is doing everything to turn India into a maintenance repair and overhaul (MRO) center and also augment the amount of routes for flights along with airports.


Minister Reddy said that India is the third largest aviation division market in the world. Air traffic in India is increasing after the pandemic situation.


Reddy added that aviation is an important factor behind tourism and cultural connections.


Referring to the provincial air connectivity system, which is known as UDAN, the minister said that Rs. 2,360 crore has been provided as feasibility gap subsidy for it.


On February 12, traffic for domestic air passengers reached 4,37,800 on 2,935 flights.
