This is an initiation to comprehend in a better way and optimize the potential of Seychelles’ as a tourist destination.
Formerly, the National Bureau of Statistics, on a quarterly basis, had carried out manual surveys; however the practice was temporarily stopped in 2018. As of June 7th, 2023, visitors who are leaving Seychelles will now be able to complete the survey online after their journey.
The survey was planned with the help of the experts of United Nations World Tourism Organization, who directed Seychelles through the growth and expansion of the Tourism Satellite Account.
To take part, visitors will have to click the ‘opt-in’ button as soon as they complete the Digital Travel Authorization form that has been uploaded on the Seychelles Electronic Border System before they arrive in the country. Through email, a link to the survey will be sent, at the end of the trip, and the information will be collected and assessed by the NBS.
All respondents can remain guaranteed that the information they feed in will be utilized for statistical reasons and that all collected responses will be unidentified. Therefore, no personal information will be shared with any third party.
It is targeting to bring together information on visitor spending and experiences they had in Seychelles, be it on a business trip, vacation or for other reasons.
The Principal Secretary for Tourism emphasized the significance of the exercise for the destination.
