Tourism Plus Shanghai 2025 Set to Break Records Amid Rising China Travel Boom

Tourism Plus Shanghai 2025, an annual tourism extravaganza, is slated to run from March 30 to April 3, promising an unprecedented scale as international interest in traveling to China surges.

The event will unfold across three locations in Shanghai, spanning a massive 700,000 square meters of exhibition space. More than 6,000 exhibitors and over 450,000 visitors from 140+ countries and regions are expected to participate, setting new benchmarks for the expo.

Organizers revealed that the event will host four flagship exhibitions, showcasing 14 major industries such as tourism, hospitality, food and beverage, retail, real estate, and healthcare, spread across 48 specialized sectors.

International exhibitors from Germany, Italy, Spain, Slovenia, Japan, South Korea, and Vietnam have already confirmed their participation, highlighting the expo’s global appeal.

The buzz around “China travel” has skyrocketed on social media since the country’s expansion of its visa-free entry policy in November 2024, particularly in neighboring nations like Japan and South Korea.

Enhanced flight connectivity, alongside upgraded infrastructure and services, has fueled a trend of weekend getaways to Shanghai, especially among travelers from these two nations.

Between November and late December 2024, Shanghai’s two international airports recorded 363,000 arrivals and departures by Japanese and South Korean tourists, marking a 20% increase compared to September and October, according to the Shanghai General Station of Immigration Inspection.
