As the gunfire opened, shocked tourists started running for cover on Las Vegas Boulevard that is close to Sahara Avenue. One of the victims has actually stumbled inside the hotel lobby after he had been shot, where he collapsed immediately. Witnesses stated that they had seen blood at the spot.
As per the account of the police, the two men were shooting at each other when suddenly, one of them was hit in the valet area.
They went on to add that the incident involved people who had been residing in the hotel. The man who entered the lobby had to be rushed to UMC Trauma for the purpose of medical attention. But then, he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Another man who was shot in the gunfire incident was ‘dumped’ out of a ‘luxury car’ at the junction of Twain and Swenson.
Later, he was rushed to Sunrise Hospital where he had to undergo surgery. However, h sic currently ‘definitely alive’ as has been reported by the police.
Immediately afterwards the incident, the area saw a heavy police presence as the initial investigation commenced. The police briefed the local media stating that the incident had probably happened around 9 p.m. local time and that it was ‘gang-related’.
Lt.Dan McGrath of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department mentioned that there were several people who have been involved in this shootout who are likely to be staying here. He also added that there have been two shooters who were accompanied by many people who managed to flee afterwards.
He also said that they were trying to trace a ‘dark-coloured luxury car’, that might be an ‘Audi or Mercedes’.
The entrance to the Hilton hotel was taped off overnight while the police personnel combed the scene for clues.
Police said that the relatives must be notified before the deceased are finally identified by the coroner of the Clark County.
