Short stay visa will boost tourism in Oman

evisaThe Royal Oman Police has announced a new short term tourist’s visa to visit the Sultanate for a period of 10 days. This is done to spur tourism growth and encourage more travellers to visit the country.

 

 

Through the e-visa process Indians holding a valid visa to countries – United States of America, Canada, Australia, United Kingdom, Japan and Schengen States can login and make payment on checkout.  Other Indian travellers can avail a sponsored visa by making a payment along with a processing fee through their tour operator. The tourists visas are divided into three sections, it can be for a period of 10 days, a month or a year.

 

 

Lubaina Sheerazi, India Representative, Ministry of Tourism, Oman stated that Oman offers the most authentic Arabian experience to its visitors.

 

 

There has been an increase in MICE tourism with the recent launch of the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre in Muscat along with new international hotel chains that have recently opened in Oman.

 

 

Oman is a short-haul destination from India, with excellent air connectivity, world class hotels and easy availability of Indian food.

 

 

It is soon turning out to be a preferred wedding destination. With the reduced visa fees, new e-visa system, newly opened Muscat International Airport will serve as a boon for Oman’s tourism. The change in visa policy will bring more travellers.

 

 

 

In 2017, a total of 3 million tourists visited and the Sultanate saw a growth of 4.7 percent year –on –year in the number of international travellers.
