There was a 11.2% rise in the number of UK travellers visiting Maldives during the first six months of 2018 as compared to the same period last year.
From January to June a total of 57,535 UK tourists arrived in the Maldives as compared with 51,737 in 2017.
In June there was a 6.2 per cent growth in the number of UK tourist arrivals as compared with the same duration in 2017. Around 6,459 travellers from the UK visited the Maldives in June 2018, compared with 6,081 in June 2017.
This reflected 6.9 per cent of all tourist arrivals to the Maldives, the third largest inbound market for arrivals globally, after China which was 17.5 per cent and Germany having eight per cent.
The total of 93,786 travellers worldwide arrivals was recorded in Maldives in June 2018 showing an increase of ten percent as compared with June 2017 which had 85,222.
There was an increase of 10.5 percent in the global tourists visit in the Maldives with 726,515 global tourists as compared to the same period last year.
Maldives minister of tourism, Moosa Zameer was pleased to see a notable increase in the number of UK and worldwide arrivals to the Maldives. He said that the increase represents the country’s world-class tourism industry. The country is set to welcome new developments planned for the remaining part of 2018 and 2019.
