Sikkim Minister B.S.Panth has contracted coronavirus

Yesterday i.e. on Sunday, B S Panth, the Sikkim Tourism Minister, stated that he has tested positive for coronavirus and currently he is in home quarantine. The 69-year-old minister in a recent social media post has explained, “I have tested positive for coronavirus. I have isolated myself at home.”


In the meantime, the COVID-19 tally on Sunday in Sikkim has increased to 32,719 as 70 people, 25 more than the day before, tested positive for the infection, a health bulletin said.


In East Sikkim, fifty-one cases were freshly registered followed by 13 in West Sikkim and six in South.


At present, Sikkim has 218 active cases, while 352 patients have migrated to other states. 31,740 people have recovered from the disease.


The bulletin mentioned that the recovery rate stood at 98.1 per cent respectively.


The death cases regarding coronavirus in Sikkim remained unchanged at 409 as in the past 24 hours, no fatality was reported.


In the Himalayan state, as many as 2, 82,349 samples have been tested for coronavirus including 576 in the last 24 hours.
