Over 60 foreign delegates from 29 nations are expected to attend the second G20 Tourism Working Group (TWG) conference, which will take place in West Bengal’s Siliguri and Darjeeling from April 1-3, 2023.

The inaugural Tourism Working Group Meeting, held from 7-9 February 2023 at ‘The Rann of Kutch, Gujarat,’ was a success.

The meeting, according to Secretary Tourism Arvind Singh, will focus on examining the deeper and wider aspects of the Tourism Working Group’s five goals.

The five goals of the India Tourism Working Group, Green Tourism, Digitalization, Skills, Tourism MSMEs, and Destination Management, were introduced in the working session and approved by all G20 Members, Invitee Countries, and International Organizations.

“Around 60 international delegates from 29 plus countries will be participating in the meeting,” he said.
A technical excursion to Darjeeling has been arranged for all delegates during the second TWG Conference. One of the key attractions would be the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Darjeeling Himalayan Railway (DHR), commonly known as the “Toy Train Ride.”

Delegates will participate in a tea tasting and a moonlight tea leaf plucking event. They will also go to Raj Bhawan, the Governor of West Bengal’s summer house.

A cultural programme and immersive Art & Craft experience has been arranged at Chowrasta (The Mall Road), Darjeeling, including a showcase of Himalayan Mountaineering Institute (HMI) items.

The participants will get a one-of-a-kind experience of the beauty and diversity of West Bengal’s tourism sector thanks to the technical tour and cultural activities scheduled for them.

An exhibition will be opened for the general public from April 3 to April 5, 2023, to increase awareness of India’s G20 Presidency and promotion of sustainable practices under Adventure Tourism at Mall Road, Darjeeling.

Ministry of Tourism, Government of India is hosting a Side Event on ‘Adventure Tourism as a vehicle for achieving Sustainable Development Goals’.
