Singapore witnesses huge revival in Indian tourist numbers

Between January and June 2023, Singapore welcomed around 5.35 lakh visitors from India, said the regional director, Singapore Tourism Board, G. B. Srithar.


He on Thursday was in Coimbatore for a roundtable meet and he informed the reporters that there is a huge revival in terms of Indian visitors to Singapore. Around 1.41 million Indian visitors visited Singapore. This number was the third largest subsequent to China and Indonesia.


These visitors include leisure travelers who are young Indians, families and cruise travelers and those coming for business reasons etc. Between Singapore and 19 Indian cities, Singapore Airlines has nonstop air connectivity.


There were around 38 Singapore tourism stakeholders in the roundtable meet who reached the city to restore connections with the operators of tourism in Coimbatore and other places located nearby. For Indian tourists, they provided updates on the refreshed offerings. At present, Singapore has many new attractions and experiences. Of late, similar meetings were organized in Pune and Jaipur, he said.


Area Director, Mumbai, Middle East, South Asia International Group, Wong Renjie, also mentioned that Singapore has new attractions such as the Bird Paradise located close to Singapore Zoo.
