Solomon Airlines confirms repatriation flight between Papua New Guinea and Solomon Islands

Solomon Airlines has confirmed that following Solomon Islands Government approval, the airline will operate a repatriation flight between the Solomon Islands and Papua New Guinea later this week, before returning to Brisbane, Australia.

The special charter is scheduled to allow Solomon Islands citizens returning from the Philippines and Papua New Guinea to join the flight from Port Moresby to Honiara.

On 11 December the Airbus A320 aircraft will fly from Brisbane to Honiara as a cargo flight, before operating the following services:

HONIARA-PORT MORESBY-HONIARA – 12 DECEMBER

On 12 December, Flight IE635 will depart Honiara at 5.00am arriving in Port Moresby at 6.00am. Due to restrictions, passengers are unable to travel on this sector.

The flight will then return to Honiara as Flight IE636, departing Port Moresby at 7.00am, arriving back in Honiara at 10.00am, where the aircraft will be deep cleaned and sanitised overnight.

As a Solomon Islands Government managed repatriation flight, passengers seeking to travel on the Port Moresby to Honiara service should contact their nearest Solomon Islands Government embassy or mission for further details and the necessary COVID-19 testing and self-quarantine requirements.

On arrival in the Solomon Islands, all travellers will undergo a mandatory, minimum 21-day quarantine period and at least three further COVID-19 tests. All test results must be negative before individuals can be released from quarantine.

HONIARA-BRISBANE 13 DECEMBER

On 13 December, Flight IE601 will depart Honiara at 11.15am, arriving in Brisbane at 1.30pm, with a limited number of approved passengers onboard, who will be transitting for onward international travel or who have the right to enter Australia.

All Solomon Airlines flights comply fully with the COVID-19 regulations of the relevant countries. Solomon Airlines crew onboard the airline’s A320 aircraft wear facemasks and gloves for the duration of service and catering is minimal to reduce contact between passengers and crew.
