In the initial ten days of the month July, Greek islands have registered a record arrival in tourists with over 2 million visitors landing at one of the five international airports in the South Aegean.
Vassilis Kikilias, the Minister of Tourism, Greece, has unveiled that at airports of the South Aegean, the number of arrivals in July’s initial ten days has exceeded the volumes that was registered during the same time in 2019, as per the reports of SchengenVisaInfo.com.
On average, a rise of 24 per cent has been seen in Dodecanese and Cyclades compared to the same time and month 2019, with arrivals at South Aegean’s five international airports surpassing 2 million, up till 10th July via direct international flights of 13,006, says the statement of the Minister.
Four Greek islands, as per the Minister, have registered the highest rise in visitor numbers compared to 2019. In the list, Santorini tops the chart with a rise of 62 per cent in terms of arrivals of tourists compared to the consequent figures for the initial ten days of July 2019.
Three other islands like Rhodes, Mykonos, and Kos have surpassed the figures, apart from Santorini, in terms of the first ten days of July 2019.
In regard to tourist arrivals, Mykonos in the initial ten days of July 2022 has registered a rise of 37 per cent. An increase of 18 per cent in Rhodes, and Kos registered an increase of 13 per cent.
