Tourism in southeast Europe is expected to boom, as the interest in this destination has reached an all-time high.

The news was shared by the New Deal Europe (NDE), which says that the region is also seeing an increased interest in investments in hotels, as tourists are becoming more aware of the region as a new tourism destination, SchengenVisaInfo.com reports.

The Balkans are booming. It is one of the last exotic regions of Europe but more and more people are looking at it because it has such diversity – from the Alps to the Aegean, it offers culture, natural attractions, beaches, mountains, foodie attractions, wine and skiing, NDE’s cofounder, Tim Murn, noted.

The company will hold the annual trade marketplace on March 24, which connects tourism suppliers from all Balkan countries; Greece, Moldova, Romania, Montenegro, Serbia, Croatia, Bulgaria, North Macedonia, Kosovo, Slovenia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, and Albania.

NDE’s cofounder said that the Balkans is one of Europe’s last exotic places and more people would like to visit the region due to its diversity in culture, natural beauty, beaches, and skiing.

Furthermore, the region offers great value for money, especially for countries outside the EU, with Albania being one of the most promising destinations.

The interest in this country has risen especially among Brits, as there are more than eight flights a day to Albania from the United Kingdom.

Albania has strong indications for a great tourism industry, which hopefully can be as successful as Greece’s, its neighbouring country.

Previously, Greece and Albania signed a cooperation agreement to strengthen their relations, especially in the field of tourism.

Both countries vowed to promote destinations and increase the number of incoming tourists.

The decision followed the meeting between the Tourism and Environment Minister of Albania, Mirela Kumbaro and the Greek National Tourism Organisation (GNTO) President, Angela Gerekou, which stressed how important it is to preserve both countries’ identity in the tourism industry.
