Atthakorn Sirilatthayakorn, the Minister of Tourism and Sports, emphasized that the flood situation is improving, particularly in the Songkhla province, which had been heavily impacted. “The situation in Songkhla has stabilized with water levels almost entirely receding, leaving only minor flooding in a few areas,” Sirilatthayakorn reported. The ministry has been working tirelessly to ensure that tourists are well taken care of during the crisis, with a focus on providing support and ensuring safe transportation.
As floodwaters caused temporary disruptions, the Ministry of Tourism and Sports has reported that a total of 1,812 tourists were safely assisted. The tourists, who came from various countries, were primarily affected by transportation delays and difficulties accessing their accommodations. These visitors were helped with evacuation efforts, alternative travel routes, and direct assistance in securing transportation to safer areas.

Among those assisted were a mix of international tourists, including four Chinese, two South Africans, one Malaysian, one Australian, one Scottish, and one Singaporean. The ministry’s support teams worked swiftly to ensure that no tourists were left stranded, and that their holiday experiences were not disrupted further than necessary.
In addition to Songkhla, where water levels have decreased dramatically, other tourist hotspots have also seen improvements. The southern province of Satun has returned to normal, with no tourists left stranded and services running smoothly. The Pak Bara–Li Peh ferry route, which had been suspended due to the floods, is now fully operational, with both inbound and outbound services running without delays. Local tour operators continue to assist travellers headed to Hat Yai Airport, ensuring that tourists can make their way to their next destinations safely.

In Yala, the floodwaters are receding, and most tourist attractions have reopened, though travel between Yala and Betong remains possible with caution due to some steep areas. One major attraction, Wat Na Khom, is currently undergoing restoration, but no tourists have been impacted by this closure.
Surat Thani, another key area in the southern tourism circuit, has also seen a return to normalcy. Ferry services to nearby islands have resumed, and the province has reported no tourist injuries or fatalities despite slightly rough seas. The situation in Trang and Nakhon Si Thammarat is also improving, with minor flooding in some areas, but no significant impact on tourist activities. Both regions are seeing normal operations in their ferry services and attractions, with no further reports of stranded tourists.
Despite the improving situation, some areas, such as Pattani, are still experiencing rain and isolated flooding. However, these conditions have not impacted tourists directly, and no serious disruptions have been reported. Local authorities continue to monitor the situation and are working to keep tourist areas safe, with officials urging visitors to stay updated through official channels.
Atthakorn Sirilatthayakorn assured the public that the Ministry of Tourism and Sports is continuing to monitor the situation closely, 24/7. “We are coordinating with local governments and tourism providers to ensure that both tourists and residents are provided with timely assistance. We urge all travellers to follow official announcements and stay informed about the current situation for their safety,” he said.
The floods that impacted the southern part of Thailand are a difficult situation for southern Thailand, tourists, and residents alike. Luckily, the rapid efforts of the local authorities, coupled with the local tourism professionals, lessened the burden on travelers and many tourists were able to continue their vacations with minimal interruptions. Now that the region is completely flooded and tourism activities are expected to resume, local tourism operators are hopeful that the region will be able to gain fully operate, the lost tourism activities within the region, within the coming weeks.
