Southwest Airlines partners with Icelandair, offering seamless U.S.-Europe travel with new interline flights to Iceland and beyond. Book now for easy connections!
Southwest Airlines has taken a bold step into international travel by forming its first-ever partnership with Icelandair. This groundbreaking collaboration enables customers to enjoy smooth connections between the two carriers’ networks. Passengers can now book journeys that link Southwest’s extensive domestic routes with Icelandair’s services to Iceland and Europe.
This interline agreement represents a major milestone for Southwest, marking its inaugural venture into alliances with international airlines. Interlining allows carriers to coordinate travel plans and baggage handling across different flights, even when they operate on separate systems. This collaboration simplifies the transfer process for passengers flying with both airlines.
Travelers can now plan itineraries that start with Southwest flights from various U.S. cities and transition smoothly to Icelandair’s service at Keflavik International Airport (KEF) in Reykjavik. From there, passengers have the opportunity to continue their journeys to multiple European destinations.

For Icelandair, this agreement opens up new avenues to reach customers in the American Midwest and Southern regions, areas that previously had limited direct access to European travel options.
Southwest plans to fully integrate these options into its booking system by 2026, aligning with the airline’s shift to assigned seating. At that time, travelers will also gain the ability to earn and redeem Rapid Rewards points for international flights, adding significant value to the loyalty program.
