The new owners of an Isle of Wight hotel, which is currently undergoing a multi–million–pound refurbishment, have unveiled details about its proposed new spa.

The Albion Hotel, in Freshwater Bay, has been bought by Surrey–based A2K Leisure which is looking to improve and rejuvenate the building.

A spa building would be built on part of the hotel’s car park and link to the current swimming pool building. It would have a studio space, 6 treatment rooms, a courtyard area, a covered walk; away, and a water feature.

The hotel will also have a sauna and jacuzzi. Modh design, the planning agents on behalf of the hotel, say the extension would be sympathetic, rather than an after-thought to add –on.

At the moment, the car park is owned by the hotel but non–residents can pay to park there. As part of the changes, spaces will be for the use of hotel guests and spa users only. The company says the spa would create additional employment opportunities, along with jobs at the hotel.
