Officials in Spain have recently ordered to close all hotels, short-stays accommodations and campsites starting next Tuesday. The decision to shut down hotels follows after the number of coronavirus cases in the country soar to a higher number. All hotels have been ordered to close down to guarantee the containment of the pandemic.
As of Thursday, around 17,149 confirmed cases have been recorded in Spain with the death toll rising to 767. Spain is also the second most worst affected country in Europe after Italy. The country is currently undergoing an intensive lockdown and is expected to follow the same rule for another two weeks. Spain also declared a state of emergency on March 14th 2020. It also introduced a number of measures including important restrictions about travel and movement across the country in response to the coronavirus pandemic.
A representative recently said in a press statement that the Spanish government has confirmed that all hotels in Spain will be closed from Tuesday. Government officials have also advised British travellers in Spain to contact their tour operator or airline with immediate effect to arrange and organize their return journey back home before Tuesday. Previously, the Foreign and Commonwealth Office has also advised British citizens to get in touch with their travel and tour operators as soon as possible.
However, long-term boarding houses are being exempted from the closure. These boarding houses will have to follow the state of emergency as advised by the government last week barring people from all kinds of outings except for essential travel.
