In August, Spain welcomed almost nine million international passengers from airports, representing 87% of those who turned up in the same month 2019, as per the data unveiled yesterday by Turespaña from Aena records.
As per Reyes Maroto, the Minister of Industry, Trade and Tourism, these information are quite optimistic as they verify about tourism’s powerful revival that has got resisted well by the hesitation generated by the war and inflation. The minister also said that their autumn forecasts are good, even though within the prudence that is essential to have in such complex times.
August witnessed a rise in passengers departing from all important countries, as per the news from Schenghen Visa. From the United Kingdom, one out of every four passengers came and went mainly to the Balearic Islands. From the UK, around 78.6% of passengers flew on a low-cost airline. From the UK market, Spanish airports in total welcomed 2,240,299 passengers, which attained an upturn of 84.6% compared to 2019.
Around 1,338,855 passengers, from Germany, arrived, 14.9% of the total, who mostly visited the Balearic Islands. The proportion of passengers, in the case of this market, choosing traditional airlines in opposition to ‘low cost’ is practically split 50/50 (51.8% in traditional airlines-48.2% in low cost). The market of Germany accounted for 87% of pre-pandemic arrivals.
Also, Italy issued 831,581 passengers, who flew to Catalonia. From Italy, eight out of ten passengers traveled on low-cost airlines.
