Spanish travel writers venture ‘into the West’

Top Spanish travel and lifestyle journalists – representing a leading daily newspaper, popular lifestyle magazine, a radio station and travel blogs – are visiting the Wild Atlantic Way, as guests of Tourism Ireland and Fáilte Ireland.

The group’s action-packed programme includes Kylemore Abbey, as well as a turf-cutting demo and sheepdog herding at Glen Keen Farm in Co Mayo. They will also visit Slieve League and Fanad Head Lighthouse.

Barbara Wood, Tourism Ireland’s Manager Spain, said: “Tourism Ireland was delighted to invite these influential Spanish journalists to visit the Wild Atlantic Way, to experience for themselves some of the many great things to see and do here. Their articles, broadcasts and posts will be seen and shared by their readers and listeners around Spain – inspiring them to come and sample the Wild Atlantic Way for themselves.”

In 2018, we welcomed around 443,000 Spanish arrivals to Ireland.

Barbara Wood continued: Tourism Ireland is undertaking an extensive programme of promotional activity throughout 2019, to continue to grow Spanish tourism numbers to the island of Ireland. Journalists’ visits like this are an invaluable part of our overall promotional programme, helping to get positive exposure for the Wild Atlantic Way and Ireland through the media in Spain.”
