A SpiceJet plane travelling from Mumbai to Guwahati with 183 passengers on board had to make an emergency landing in Kolkata Wednesday morning.

However, all passengers are safe.

The pilot earlier contacted air traffic control in Kolkata suspecting a leakage in the fuel tank, PTI reported, quoting unnamed sources.

But an inspection of the plane showed that the leakage was in the water tank, the sources said.

The plane made the emergency landing at around 9 am.

On January 13, a SpiceJet flight travelling from Varanasi made an emergency landing at Chennai airport.

According to a news report, the flight was supposed to land there later but was given priority when a problem was found in one of its flaps. Even then no passengers were hurt.
