Rounded by a series of road shows organized by Sri Lanka Tourism is said to have ongoing bilateral and cultural ties with its Indian counterparts. While shaping the serene Island nation, a series of roadshows were conducted which aims to share and promote their destinations and tourism products.
The first roadshow was dated to be on 24th April in Chennai, followed by Cochin on 26th April, and ended in Bangalore on 28th April.
With a growing number of 30 Sri Lankan Travel Agencies and hotels participated in this event.
The market delegation was led by Hon. Harin Fernando, Minister of Tourism along with Mr. Chalaka Gajabahu, Chairman of Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau, also accompanied by Mr. Thisum Jayasuriya, Chairman of Sri Lanka Convention Bureau, Ms. Shirani Herth, Junior Manager, Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB) and Ms. Malkanthi Welikla, Manager – Marketing Sri Lanka Convention Bureau.
Hon. Harin Fernando, Minister of Tourism stated that Sri Lanka believes to experience a significant rise in tourist arrivals, especially from the country India, which undeniably has secured the top spot. In the first three months of 2023, they welcomed 46,432 Indian tourists.
With an extended ambitious campaign underway, they aim to attract 2 million Worldwide tourists this year. Additionally, he also mentioned that Sri Lanka values the Indian market in their country. The country offers wellness and yoga, beaches, shopping, cruise, adventure, and wildlife.
The event had a greater impact on these events that included the participation of celebrities such as Cricket legend Sanath Jayasuriya. Sri Lanka is one of the most beautiful countries with a rising range of destinations and products and also has the ability to be safe and secure.
