Sri Lanka will host a conference of Asia-Pacific tourism ministers, state and industry officials in June this year that would focus on developing crisis management process and responses and sharing information in the Asia-Pacific region.
The conference is themed ‘Contemporary Challenges and Tourism Revitalization’ and will encompass a joint meeting of the UNWTO’s Commission for East Asia and the Pacific and the UNWTO Commission for South Asia.
Delegates will work out strategies to invigorate tourism in response to the crisis presently and will share effective crisis management tools and examples for the tourism sector and its industries, said Sri Lanka’s tourism promotion office.
About 150 foreign delegates from state and private sectors will be taking part in the conference.
Now, Asian tourism is under severe pressure from corona virus epidemic, which has claimed thousands of lives.
