Sri Lanka tourism gets boosted with direct air links with China

sri-lanka-tourismSri Lanka On Tuesday, John Amaratunga, Sri Lanka’s Tourism Minister explained that direct air links with China have enhanced the tourism sector of the country as more and more Chinese tourists are willing to explore Sri Lanka as their next holiday destination.

 
Amaratunga said that Colombo and many Chinese cities have direct air links without transit. In the coming days, the country is anticipating that the tourism market from China will grow in leaps and bounds.

 
Keeping in mind the rapid increase in Chinese visitors, SriLankan Airlines, the official airline carrier of Sri Lanka has recently augmented its services for their Chinese customers with the introduction of a local direct-dial helpline number for airline’s customers all through China.

 
At present, China is one of strongest tourist markets for Sri Lanka. Last year, as per the figures published by the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority, a total of 271,577 Chinese visitors poured into Sri Lanka, making China the second-largest country of origin.
The first five months of this year saw Chinese arrivals to increase by over 4 percent, with 117,539 arrivals, according to the statistics.
