Published on : Wednesday, May 8, 2019

Sri Lanka Tourism has said that it is still confident that the industry will get back on its feet after the Easter Sunday attacks and official April arrivals figures showing a drop.

The total number of international tourist arrivals to Sri Lanka during April 2019 was 166,975.

Compared to April last year, there was a decline of 7.5% where the arrivals were 180,429, which is undoubtedly a direct consequence of Easter Sunday Attacks on 21st April.

Last month, the largest source markets for tourists in the Island nation were the UK, followed by India and Germany.

The Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority said that it is optimistic that the Tourism industry could be revived back to normal in the coming weeks regardless of the current situation.
