SRO Building up Space Tourism Capabilities, Confirms the Centre

On Thursday, Mr. Jitendra Singh, the Union Minister, explained that the Indian Space Research Organization or ISRO was in the act of expanding indigenous capabilities in terms of space tourism by displaying human space flight potentiality to Low Earth Orbit.


Mr. Singh in a written respond to a question in the Rajya Sabha, stated that the Indian National Space Promotion and Authorization Centre also wanted to support private sector’s active participation in conducting end-to-end space activities, which comprises space tourism as well.

The minister while answering to a question related to space diplomacy said that ISRO hunted for international collaboration and relations with 61 nations in different domains related to space activities.

IN-SPACe is a single window agency. It belongs to the Department of Space to promote handhold and approve private sector’s activities in space domain.

Singh while replying to a separate question said that the Department of Space was trying to draft an all-inclusive, integrated space policy, which shall show the way to the activities of the private Indian space industry.
