The stakeholders reacted warmly in response to the efforts by Ramanagaram district administration for displaying the tourism investment prospective of the district. A huge number of important players in eco-tourism, hospitality and adventure were present in the tourism conclave organized in Galibore on Friday.
This was the first-ever district-level tourism conclave. The event witnessed involvement of rock climbing specialists, organizers of agri and culture tourism, along with representatives from hotel chains and associations.
The tiny district of Ramanagaram boasts of a lot of tourist attractions, right from rock climbing to water sports, olden temples, cultural habitats, forests and geographic indication-based Channapatna wooden toys. On the one hand, the district houses South Asia’s largest silk industry, and on the other, its nearness to Bengaluru.
C.N. Ashwath Narayan, the Higher Education Minister, who is also holds the responsibility of Ramanagaram district, said that the district administration is trying to boost Ramanagaram as a place for strained Bengalureans for relaxing for a day or two without requiring to travel for long.
The minister said that the English film ‘Passage to India’, Bollywood classic ‘Sholay’, and Kannada matinee idol Dr. Rajkumar’s timeless ‘Bangarada Manushya’ and ‘Huliya Haalina Mevu’ were filmed at the place.
Regarding the tourism prospective of the district, Avinash Menon, Ramanagaram Deputy Commissioner said that the tourist spots in the district are largely classified into four circuits covering 21 conspicuous areas – Manchanabele dam, Sangama, Iggaluru dam and Kanva reservoir.
