Sydney Flood: Evacuation warning for dangerous flash flooding

The east coast of Australia is suffering from torrential rains, flash floods and high winds. 40,000 people ordered to evacuate and another 20,000 put on high alert in the New South Wales region. This weather is going to continue until Wednesday or Thursday. The region braced for more rain on Sunday after being drenched by heavy downpours over the past week.

An expert from the Bureau of Meteorology, Dean Narramore has warned that there will be tough 24 to 48 hrs ahead. Mr. Dominic Perrottet, the premier of New South Wales has stated that they expected to issue more evacuation orders as the rains continue.

821.6mm of rain fall made it the wettest Monday in Australian history. It over-took the 1956 record of 782.8mm. The strong winds are likely to destroy more power lines and trees in that region.

Mr.Narrmore in a recent statement has said there has been flash flooding in that part of the world. He predicted that the storm is likely to move further north in the coming days. They have also received warnings for intense rainfall that is likely to lead to life-threatening and dangerous flash flooding.

On Thursday, the people can expect some good news where most of the state might actually see a fine, mostly sunny day. There may just a few showers about in north-eastern in the New South Wales region.

Carlene York, the Commissioner of New South Wales SES (State Emergency Service), has warned the residents that even if the rain does stop on Wednesday and Thursday, which it will, there’s still a lot of water in these rivers. She has warned the residents of the seriousness of the situation.
