The figures released by the foreign ministry showed that France received a record high number of foreign holidaymakers last year and maintained its position as the main tourists destination in the world.
With a record number of 89 million foreign visitors, 2017 has a strong recovery of international tourists traffic in the French territory stated the foreign ministry, in-charge of the tourism portfolio.
From last year the number of nights spent stood at 132.7 million which was 6.8 percent up from last year. Around 32.9 Russian tourist visited over the period and the Japanese holidaymaker rose by 22.1 percent due to the wealthy history and abundant cultural heritage.
Chinese tourists visiting France was up by 19.3 percent and there was a16 percent rise in visitors from the United States. As per the ministry figures the European arrival from Germany grew by 9.9 percent, South Mediterranean like the Spain and Italy saw a recorded rise of 11.3 percent and 9.2 percent respectively.
It is expected that France will welcome 100 million tourists by 2020.
