The Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET) returns to the World’s Leading Travel Trade Show from 7 to 9 March 2023 presenting the destination’s diverse tourism proposition.

A total of 59 co-exhibitors from government bodies, hotels, destination management companies and tour operators, such as Emirates Airline, Atlantis Dubai, Address Hotels + Resorts or Museum of The Future, join DET at the over 460 square meters, two-storey Dubai display in Hall 2.2 (booth 100).

This year marks Dubai’s 31st exhibit at ITB Berlin, reinforcing the emirate’s commitment to the German market and travellers.

Dubai remains in the global spotlight with spectacular new hotel offerings, unique nature experiences and
manifold tourist initiatives.

Dubai has been voted #1 Popular Destination in the World in the Tripadvisor® Travellers’ Choice Awards 2023 for a second successive year, consolidating its position as the world’s favourite tourist destination.

The city recorded over 14 million international overnight visitors in 2022, an increase of 97 percent.

Germany remains one of the most important source markets, with almost 422,000 overnight visitors and an increase of 75 percent in 2022. With 10,000 exhibitors from 150 countries, the world literally meets at ITB Berlin and it is great to see the 2023 edition finally back as an in-person event.

With the support of our 59 partners across Dubai’s tourism ecosystem, we spread awareness and excitement of the destination’s overall offering amongst tourism professionals and key players from the global travel industry, says Hoor Al Khaja, Associate Vice President International Operations, Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism.

ITB Berlin has cemented its status as the World’s Leading Travel Trade Show and Germany has maintained
its position as one of our top 10 worldwide source markets.

That is why we are committed to ITB Berlin with our largest trade-fair presence outside our home market for so many years, adds Hoor Al Khaja.

The repeated Tripadvisor® award distinction as the most popular destination in the world supports the goal of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33 to consolidate the city’s status as one of the world’s top three destinations for tourism and business.

Dubai’s hotel sector recorded an average occupancy of 73 percent in 2022, one of the highest in the world, and just short of the 75 percent occupancy in pre-pandemic 2019.

Dubai’s culinary sector is also a significant tourism driver with the city’s rich, creative and multi-cultural dining scene of around 13,000 restaurants and cafés attracting visitors and accolades from across the
globe.

The city’s culinary landscape was recognised with the launch of the inaugural MICHELIN Guide Dubai in summer 2022. With sustainability embedded in its tourism strategy, Dubai has taken decisive measures to position itself as a top choice for holidaymakers seeking sustainable and safe destinations.

Throughout 2022, Dubai worked tirelessly to achieve the city’s sustainability goals, led by Dubai Sustainable Tourism (DST), an initiative aimed at raising the city’s profile as a leading sustainable destination.

With 2023 declared as the UAE’s Year of Sustainability and Expo City Dubai hosting COP28, the UN Climate Change conference, the year will be key for advancing Dubai’s vision to enhance sustainability and forge global cooperation to address vital issues.
