Summer tourism season in Himachal starts a month before

Summer tourism season in Himachal has started a month before, with scorching heat in the plains forcing people to head to the hills to get some respite.

Lured by the snow-capped mountains of Himachal, people in the plains with temperature going above 40°C are packing their travel bags to take pleasure in the cold breeze of the mountains.

Tourist resorts of Shimla, Manali, Dharamshala and Dalhousie are witnessing unmatched crowd in March-end.

“It looks like dark shadow of Covid-19 is receding from the tourism trade,” said RoshanLal, a hotelier. “I had never seen such a large number of tourists in March. Tourists say the temperature is unbearable and they had to plan a trip to the hill station. Sometimes traffic is moving at snail’s pace only because most tourists are driving their own vehicles,” he added.

Several hotels in Shimla, Manali, Dharamshala and Dalhousie are fully booked on some dates in the next three months.
