Many of the Sunshine Coast’s best tourism spots will offer several thrilling attractions, after receiving funding.
Australia Zoo, Aussie World, RACV Noosa, Glasshouse Plantation, Beach Hostel Mooloolaba, Mayan Farm, Amaze World, Narrows Escape Rainforest Retreat Maleny and Maleny Botanic Gardens and Bird World are all set to obtain State Government subsidy for improving the experience of tourists.
This funding is expected to bring a projected $12.895m into the region’s economy, and also generate 172 construction and 43 ongoing jobs.
Member for Caloundra Jason Hunt said that after the latest fruitful opening of the luxury Crocodile Hunter Lodge, Australia Zoo would profit from a $200,000 contribution for a new $816,00 Serengeti experience, with an opportunity to view the zoo’s cheetahs, offering tourists with a view outside of the existing shows.
Hunt said that visitors to Aussie World can fly high with $200,000 funded for a new $1.69m ‘Aerobat’ ride.
The Sunshine Coast’s first rollercoaster experience was introduced at Aussie World in the opening part of this year.
Member for Nicklin Rob Skelton said that Amaze World would get $50,000 for their $200,000 development project.
Skelton said that this expansion project will comprise a new maze, with puzzles, events, shelter and nearby access, along with new augmented reality experiences, lighting, a commercial kitchen and handy trails.
Tourism Minister Stirling Hinchliffe applauded the tourism operators regarding their commitment toward delivering new and improved tourism experiences.
