Switzerland Tourism is celebrating Switzerland’s history on World Tourism Day 2020 by taking tourists from around the world through its rich cultural heritage.

Globally, Switzerland is a dream destination featuring on every traveler’s bucket list. Besides the scenic landscapes, majestic mountains and charming towns, Switzerland stands outs as a tourist destination due to its exceptional experience that it provides. The well connected and convenient Swiss Transport System caters to each and every tourist while the warm hospitality of the Swiss people provides memories of a lifetime. If Switzerland’s tourism industry seems to run like a well-oiled machine, it’s due to its practice of welcoming tourists than nearly any other. Years later, India romanticized Switzerland due to innumerable Bollywood songs shot there.

In the 19th century, the Swiss mountains proved remarkably fascinating to the young upper class men from Britain. Even today, the grand mountain peaks tempt tourists to Switzerland, and some of these summits are now a hub for adrenaline pumping adventure sports.

In the mid 19th century, Switzerland also welcomed Queen Victoria and her staff for a five-week getaway. It was the first visit to the Alpine country by a reigning British monarch. The tour left its mark not only on the Queen but also on the entire Swiss tourism industry.

The Alps is known ‘as a place of healing’, making Switzerland the best place for treating lung diseases. High altitude fresh air provides a therapeutic effect on patients giving rise to health tourism in the country. The new health resorts with curative treatments involving drinking spring waters, hydrotherapy, and, of course, inhaling the pure mountain air are a major draw. Even today, Switzerland is a top wellness destination with beautiful spas providing world class facilities!
