The Department of Tourism (DOT) celebrates the inclusion of Clark International Airport (CRK) as one of the world’s most beautiful airports this year

CFWF chairperson Kate Anzani said on Tuesday, May 9 that the third run of the CFWF is the biggest so far as it invited 25 renowned chefs to Cebu.

A Philippines news agency reported that data released by the Department of Tourism showed the country welcomed  2,002,304 international visitors from 1 January to 12 May, which exceeded the 1.7 million foreign visitors in 2022.

In 2019, Japan was ranked as the country’s fourth biggest international tourism source market, with visitor arrivals tallying 682,788 in 2019.

Data from the Department of Tourism (DOT) showed that foreign arrivals as of Nov. 14, 2022 reached two million, already exceeding the full year target of 1.7 million arrivals.

The DOT had initially projected 1.7 million tourist arrivals this year, but the actual count recorded 2.46 million as of Tuesday, Dec. 19.

Notably, this exceeds the previous projections of the Department of Tourism before June 30, which pegged international arrivals only at 1.7 million by December 2022, Frasco said.

Before the COVID-19 pandemic, China was the country’s second-largest source of tourists, next to South Korea.

The annual tourism revenue in 2020 is no doubt higher than the receipts generated this year since tourists were still able to enter the country from January to mid-March last year before the lockdown was imposed.
