Telangana has several attractions and the government would revive the tourism sector in order to make the state a global destination for tourists, said the Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao.
Mr. Rao held a review meeting with people’s representatives, and the Collector and officials of Kamareddy district at Pragathi Bhavan regarding the beautification of Adluri Yellareddy tank.
The Chief Minister said that the State government has given priority to drinking water, irrigation, agriculture, power and infrastructure and would now focus on sustaining agriculture and allied sectors, education, medical and health and development of tourism.
To quote the minister, “There are natural landscapes and quite an extent of forest area in India. Singapore, though a small country, attracts world attention in tourism. It’s possible even to make Telangana a global tourist destination as it has dense forest, hills, hillocks, river basins.” He said that the past rulers did not pay much attention to Telangana shrines or tourism. The greatness of Kaleswaram temple was brought to light by Sringeri Peetadhipathi and the natural wonders hidden in Telangana did not come to light until Pilagada Satyanarayana came and shot a video.
The Chief Minister has directed the Finance Department to release Rs. 65 crore immediately for the work on tank. He said along with strengthening of Adluri Yellareddy tank bund, water fountains, a children’s park, food courts, an open air theatre and other beautification work should be taken up on war-footing.
