The Tourism Department in Telenganahas finally cracked the whip on companies who accepted lands for lease and did not execute their responsibilities for an extended period of time, in breach of lease criteria.

TelenganaTourism Minister V. Srinivas Goud declared that the department has resumedprime lands surrounding the GHMC boundaries valued at Rs. 1,000 crore. A total of 130 acres of land were reclaimed from a company that promised to build a golf course in Jawaharnagar survey number 12 but did not follow through after taking over the site in 2004.

Similarly, 4,600 sq. yd. land adjacent to YatriNivas in Secunderabad had been resumed from E-City Giant Screen (India) Pvt. Ltd. According to the Minister, action was taken against businesses that received lands on lease but did not meet specified standards such as establishing projects on the leased area.

Legal notifications were sent to these businesses, and the corresponding procedure for recovering the lands has been ongoing for the last year. Steps have been launched to recover the department’s 50 crore debt from these corporations.

The Minister instructed that such pieces of property be identified and resumed if enterprises failed to meet the standards for leasing out government land. He stated that tourism development had been a key priority for the government since Telangana’s establishment, and that efforts were being made to guarantee that the State Tourism Department was ranked first in the country in terms of the development of facilities as well as the upkeep of tourist places.

The emphasis was on luring foreign tourists to the state’s tourism destinations. He noted that the Ramappa temple had recently been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and he stated that there were many more ancient sites in the State.

Steps have been taken to create amenities for tourists visiting these locations, as well as to carry out promotional initiatives at the national and international levels to represent Telangana’s tourism potential.
