Thailand is getting ready to re-open to greater number of international tourists and foreign yacht crew. This step was adopted after Cabinet specified updated guidelines for the Special Tourist Visa scheme. The new set of regulations, the Deputy Government spokeswoman, Traisulee Traisoranakul, explained that it will be valid until September 30, 2021.
The STV has been introduced to re-trigger overseas tourism in the Kingdom. This sector had been impacted majorly by the pandemic. Additional information on the plan can be found by visiting your nearest embassy of Thailand.
Foreign tourists and yacht crew, as Traisulee mentions that who have been in Thailand’s waters before the country declared a state of emergency in March, are entitled to apply for the STV. The visa costs 2,000 baht. It permits a stay of 90 days at the maximum. Also, it can be extended twice, for a further 90 days each time.
On their vessels, yacht crew will have to be quarantined for 14 days, and all foreigners will need health insurance that covers covid treatment, with minimum US$100,000 worth of coverage for the duration of their stay in the Kingdom.
