The Thai government is hoping to obtain approximately 2.38 trillion baht ($64 billion) in tourism earnings next year, said a Thai tourism official.
With the tourism sector, which is an integral driver of the Southeast Asian country’s economic progress, on its path to recovery, the Thai government has set an objective of earning revenue back to 80 per cent of its pre-pandemic level in 2023.
This was stated by acting government spokesperson Anucha Burapachaisri.
In the best-case situation, in 2023, the Thai government is optimistic to witness tourism profits of 1.5 trillion baht from tourists from abroad while 880 billion baht from domestic travels, said Anucha.
Thailand is hoping to welcome 1.5 million tourists every month in the course of the last quarter of this year, said Anucha. He added that the number has touched more than 1 million up to now this month.
Thailand has kept its fingers crossed, expecting to witness 10 million tourists this year.
