Amazing-ThailandTourism Authority of Thailand organized the ‘Amazing Thailand Roadshow to India 2018’ in Kolkata on August 31, 2018 at ITC Sonar. Around 30 sellers and representatives of DMCs, hotels, resorts and airlines from Thailand were present at the event to demonstrate their products and services to the travel trade industry in Kolkata for an extensive and equally interactive session.

Leading wedding planners, travel agents, tour operators and media publications of the city were present at the roadshow.

The event commenced with a corporate interactional session between sellers from Thailand and buyers including travel agents, wedding planners and various tour operators.

This was followed by a destination presentation by Mr. Isra Stapanaseth, Director, TAT New Delhi. It highlighted the unique tourist thrills, attractions, products and experiences in Thailand, catering exceptionally well to the Indian backpackers. In an exclusive conversation with Travel And Tour World, Stapanaseth mentioned that Thailand has lured an overwhelming 22 million international tourists in the period between January to July 2018, marking a rise of 11 percent from the same period last year.

He went on to add India has immense potential as a target market, boasting of 65 million passport holders, particularly for Thailand’s wedding destinations.

Dr. Walailak Noypayak who led the delegation from Thailand seconded Stapanaseth’s views. Expressing her delight to organize the Amazing Thailand Roadshow in the City of Joy, Kolkata, she said that India continues to be a crucial market for Thailand. In an exclusive chat with us, Dr. Noypayak shared that focusing on ‘quality markets’ would prove to be lucrative for the regional tourism sector of Thailand, wherein tourists are encouraged to stay for a longer duration by attracting them to certain niche segments.

She said that Thailand is already a popular holiday and wedding celebration locale for people of Kolkata and rest of Bengal.
Thailand’s close proximity to Kolkata and the availability of direct flights makes it the preferred destination for travellers.

The ASEAN Executive Director asserted that Thailand has been witnessing a 50 percent growth in terms of inbound tourism from South Asia, particularly from Malaysia from where it receives nearly 3.5 million visitors every year, that is the second most innovative market for Thailand.

With more such events and roadshows in Kolkata in the future, TAT is keen to welcome more globetrotters to Amazing Thailand.
