Since March, Thailand has been welcoming its first intake of foreign tourists, since its borders were shut down due to the pandemic. Whilst the number of visitors this month is far below the usual when compared to this time of the year, it comes as a welcome sign of things being slowly but surely getting back to normalcy.
According to the Ministry for Tourism and Sports, Thailand welcomed more than 1000 foreign visitors in October. This is certainly an increase from September, where no foreign tourists were recorded entering the country.
Thailand has also seen a sizeable amount of tourists committing to travel to the country under Special Tourist Visa (STV). Last month, 331 tourists entered Thailand on STV, which allows its holders to spend between 90 and 270 days in the country. The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) revealed that the number of tourists arriving with the STV has more than doubled to 681.
