Thailand’s tourism industry, which suffered significantly due to the pandemic, appears to be getting back on foot after the Thai government decided to relax entry requirements.
Around 12,000 daily arrivals, which is double the number just a few days ago, werewitnessed at Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi airport since April 1.
Fully vaccinated foreign travelers coming via the Test & Go and Sandbox scheme will not need to produce a negative PCR test certificate from the time of theirdeparture by flight to Thailand. However, they will still need to take a test upon arrival before proceeding to their holiday destinations.
The Thai government has said that it will continue to ease restrictions in the coming months if the domestic rate of infections remains under control.
Over the past two years, continued lockdowns and closures, along with stringent entry requirements for foreigners in Thailand, have battered itsoncestrong tourism sector.
Although the tourism industry still has a long way to go before it can get back to pre-pandemic levels, the easing of entry requirements is expected to propel the number of daily arrivals.
