The 15th Amorgos International Tourism Film Festival is taking place from November 14 to 19, 2024, on the picturesque island of Amorgos, Greece.
Organized by the Women’s Cultural Association of Amorgos in collaboration with the Municipality of Amorgos and the South Aegean Region, this annual event has garnered international acclaim for its dedication to promoting tourism through the art of filmmaking.
As a proud member of the International Committee of Tourism Film Festivals (CIFFT) based in Vienna, the festival attracts participants from around the globe, including countries such as the USA, Canada, France, Spain, Italy, Portugal, Georgia, and Greece.
This diverse representation underscores the festival’s commitment to fostering a global dialogue on tourism and cultural heritage through cinematic expression.
Running concurrently with the film festival is the 7th Amorgos Cinema Academy, which offers a platform for students and professors from various countries to engage in high-level workshops and lectures.
The academy aims to provide educational opportunities that inspire and equip the next generation of filmmakers with the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in the industry.
In addition, the 21st YPERIA Conference for Culture will be held during the same period, focusing on the rich cultural heritage of the Cyclades.
Special presentations dedicated to Amorgos and the surrounding islands will invite participants to delve into local gastronomy, cinema, and traditions, offering a comprehensive exploration of the region’s unique cultural landscape.
The festival’s program includes a variety of activities such as film screenings, competitions, and award ceremonies.
Attendees will have the opportunity to sample local products, experience the island’s natural beauty, and discover the landscapes and experiences that have inspired filmmakers and art enthusiasts year after year.
The Amorgos International Tourism Film Festival was established in 2010 during the 8th International Convention on Culture and Tourism “YPERIA” and has been held annually since then.
The festival showcases the elite of tourism and travel videos, contributing to the development of both domestic and international tourism.
It also emphasizes the importance of sustainable development and the preservation of cultural and environmental heritage.
As a member of CIFFT since 2017, the festival is part of a global network that recognizes and celebrates excellence in travel video marketing.
This affiliation enhances the festival’s international profile and provides participants with greater exposure and opportunities within the global tourism industry.
The festival’s venue, Aegialis Hotel & Spa, offers a stunning backdrop for the event, combining modern amenities with traditional Cycladic architecture.
Participants can enjoy the hotel’s facilities while immersing themselves in the festival’s diverse program of activities.
The 15th Amorgos International Tourism Film Festival promises to be a vibrant celebration of culture, cinema, and tourism, offering participants and visitors a unique opportunity to engage with the rich heritage of Amorgos and the broader Cycladic region.
Whether you are a filmmaker, a student, or simply an enthusiast of culture and travel, the festival provides a platform to connect, learn, and be inspired by the beauty and diversity of this remarkable island.
