The Feast of Saint Patrick, is a cultural and religious celebration held on 17 March, the traditional death date of Saint Patrick.

This day is also a day to celebrate everything about Irish culture. Here are the best 5 places to see the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in the USA.






New York City, New York

New York city’s official city St. Patrick’s Day parade began in 1848.at the local time March 16, at 11 a.m. the parade officially begins.

The later generations of Irish Americans honor it with an almost a mythical status. The mounted police, marching bands, and Bagpipers march from 5th Avenue from 44th Street to 79th Street.

2,000,000 people attend as spectators and  150,000 people march in the parade making it the largest parade in the USA.


Boston, Massachusetts

While the celebration purportedly dates back 200 years prior, the city’s parade officially began in 1901. The colonists of Irish descent marked the first Feast of Saint Patrick in 1737.

South Boston Parade in Boston’s “Southie” neighborhood runs on March 17 at 1 p.m. along Broadway winding back to Andrew Square for a three-mile-long route. The T (underground) train is the best way to travel.

1,500,000 people come to Boston to celebrate the biggest St. Partick’s celebration outside of Ireland.


Washington DC

It’s big up in the national capital when it comes to St. Partick’s Day parades. The famed Shamrock Festival with 50 Irish bands, dancers, games and all types of other activities happen all day long.

The  2.5-hour themed parade along the Constitution Avenue full with marching and pipe bands, dancers, floats, military, police and fire departments.

The local Irish pubs play Irish music and one can feast on Guinness stew or shepherd’s pie, paired with a pint of Guinness. The celebrations continue for the whole day.

Dublin, Ohio

Begining with an outdoor block party that lasts all weekend, this city outside of Columbus features a parade of marching bands, pipe and drums, bugle corp, equestrian team, stilt walkers, clowns, huge balloons, and of course, Irish entertainment, there is a mile long parade at 11 a.m., travelling from Metro Place to Bridge Street and then south to Waterford Drive.

Kansas City, Missouri

19th century Irish immigrants helped with the helped building of the now-historic neighborhood of Westport. On March 17 at 11 a.m. the St. Patrick’s Day Parade marches along Broadway from Linwood to 43rd Street.

Shamrocks and Shenanigans is the theme of the parade and one can expect the usual Irish mischief and green clovers galore with Grand Marshal Eric Stonestreet of Modern Family.

North Kansas City’s Snake Saturday parade complete with cook-off and carnival is also worth checking out.
