The First Global Youth Tourism Summit ended on July 3rd

The first Global Youth Tourism Summit was organized from June 27th to July 3rd this year in Sorrento, Italy, as per the General Directorate of Public Relations and Information.


This summit was a fresh podium developed by the World Tourism Organization. The main aim of this summit was to empowering young minds and makes them participate in tourism’s decision-making processes actively.


In the summit, a total of 120 participants were seen from around 57 countries. They were between the ages of 12 years and 18 years who took part in this meeting. According to of the vice president of tourism, Iran, Tara Garhami, a top Santur player, and Mohammad Hossein Rohande, an activist of the Intellectual Development Center for children and teenagers represented Iran in the summit.


Sundry interactive activities were seen in the summit like educational workshops, webinars, roundtable conferences, educational lectures, public gathering, cultural and sports activities, and the model of the General Assembly of the World Tourism Organization were arranged to make the participants aware about different aspects of responsible and sustainable tourism.


With the adoption of “Sorrento Call”, the summit was called off. For the active youth participation, the call has a bold and pioneering vision for the growth of tourism in terms of sustainable and inclusive development.


This call was based on sessions when these young crowds were tutored and views were shared on the key issues that tourism is facing.
