The festive season has been officially initiated in the Greek capital, with the highly anticipated return of the Athens Christmas Village. A palpable atmosphere of holiday anticipation has been created as the event, which is being hosted at the expansive Pedion tou Areos, opened its doors to the public. Following the tremendous success experienced during the 2024 season, which notably attracted an impressive count of over one million visitors, a significant expansion of the holiday offerings has been confirmed for the current year.
This landmark festive attraction is scheduled to welcome guests daily from November 28 through to January 7, 2026. Of central importance to the event’s civic mission is the fact that all concerts, spectacular shows, and access to the vibrant Christmas market are offered with the generous provision of free admission. The staging of this massive public celebration is undertaken by the Attica Region, ensuring that a high-quality holiday experience is being delivered to the residents and numerous international visitors of the greater metropolitan area. The commencement of this major city event represents a considerable effort in enhancing the urban landscape and promoting social cohesion during the holiday period, wherein the spirit of generosity and communal joy is being widely embraced.

Furthermore, the standing of the Athens Christmas Village has been elevated, having been officially included in the festive calendar curated by the Greek National Tourism Organization’s (GNTO), with details being prominently featured on the visitgreece.gr platform. This recognition firmly establishes the Christmas Village as a quintessential Christmas landmark, not just for the Attica Region but for the entire country of Greece. One of the principal attractions for younger visitors is the inclusion of interactive educational games, designed to promote learning through fun, alongside the traditional festive delight of colourful carousels. The availability of these activities, without any associated cost, ensures that the festive experience is equitable and inclusive.
The cultural calendar for the 2025-2026 season is filled with a rich and diverse schedule of concerts and musical tributes, featuring both established and emerging Greek artists and bands. The comprehensive programming ensures that a different form of entertainment is available nearly every day of the festival’s run.
